Expansion of Resilience Research in Rhineland-Palatinate

Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA) / R. Müller

Titled “Resiliencies: Comparing and Integrating Methodologies, Methods, Narratives, and Theories” (RECOMENT), the joint Leibniz ScienceCampus aims to strengthen resilience research in Rhineland-Palatinate. The focus is on the ability of individuals, societies, and systems to successfully cope with crises such as natural disasters or psychological stress.

Researchers from sociology, archaeology, psychology, and other fields are working together to examine how resilience functions in different contexts. ‘We want to use this knowledge to understand which factors enable people in different times and spaces to cope with stressful situations,’ says Prof Dr Alexandra W. Busch, Director General of LEIZA.

The project will form interdisciplinary teams to compare and integrate various approaches to resilience research. This exchange is intended to generate new scientific insights and strengthen the research landscape in Rhineland-Palatinate in the long term. More than one million euros will be invested in funding the Leibniz ScienceCampus.
